Pallet racking building consent

Producer statement

After the tragedy of 2011 earthquake, pallet racking in most cities requires building consent. The landlord of commercial buildings are now also requiring tenants to have racking consented.  The consent for racking is basically a combination of various type of producer statements. It starts with PS1, which needs to be issued by a structural engineer, it needs to contain and evaluate information such as site zoning, building condition include concrete foundation, soil class, racking plan including load rating

PS2 is sometimes required, which is a peer review of PS1 by another engineer.

PS3 is to be completed by us - the installation company, to confirm the standards of PS1 is met during installation.

PS4 is an onsite inspection from the registered engineer, and sign off the project is completed in accordance with PS1.

On top of these producer statement, council may also usually ask for fire report, and sometimes emergency lighting report.

Buildings built after the 90s would have a fire report for the building itself, the fire report for the pallet racking, is to confirm with the racking installed, the original building’s fire report still complies.

What can we help with racking consent

The building consent is usually applied by the client, we can assist with all the related documents above.

Consent existing pallet racking

Although the building consent for racking has been a legal requirement for some time, there are plenty of businesses not having their existing racking consented. We can help with an initial racking audit. If the racking type, construction and anchoring, and general condition is OK, we can still possibly get producer statement
